HIK integration

Turn door check-ins into attendance, automatically.

If you have HIK turnstiles or card readers at your entrance, MY1ST can turn a check-in at the door into an attendance mark — and tell the parent their child arrived.

How does the HIK integration work?

HIK access control hardware handles entry at the door. Connected to MY1ST, a learner's check-in becomes their attendance record for that session, and their guardian can be notified that they arrived. You stop taking a register for learners who already badged in, and parents get the reassurance without asking for it.

What you get

Attendance without the register

  • Check-in is the attendance

The learner badges in at the door and the session register updates itself — no second pass by you.

  • Parents told they arrived

The message a parent most wants is 'my child got there safely'. It sends without you thinking about it.

  • Still auditable

Automatic marks land in the same attendance history as manual ones, so a term's record is one continuous story.

Common questions

Do I need HIK hardware to use MY1ST?
No. Attendance works perfectly well by tapping learners present in the app. HIK is for educators who already have turnstiles or readers installed.
I rent a room with existing turnstiles. Can I use them?
Possibly — it depends on the hardware and who administers it. Message us with what's installed and we'll tell you honestly whether it can connect.
What if the hardware fails?
You take attendance in the app as normal. The integration is a convenience on top of manual marking, never the only way in.
